Work for Vincent Dolman is quite exciting. He do get quite a lot of different assignments inside industry which makes my work very interesting and active. Another example of work I did for him you can see below. Its Rihanna photoshoot that he did a while back in december 2011.

The image above its one of series of shoots that he did and I retouch of her. It's one of my favourite ones but at the same time one of the hardest ones because during the photo shoot the flash did not fire making it basically a bad - not usable image.

As you can see its quite dark and there is literally no light on her face. In old days, and even now most of the time image like that would be dismissed and ignored, however I've decided that its a bit too good to just let it go. Luckily the image was a RAW type of file and since RAW files are usually from 12-16+ bits depending on camera I had a lot more light information that from jpg. There fore I did a series of re-exposures using the RAW file and then combined them all together.

The two images above are just an examples of what I did to the image in RAW format. I was keeping it as physically accurate as I could there fore I had to tweak each image in a different way to get the parts of her that I could use. Like here I used the face from top image and hair details from bottom image. With few hours of retouching I had her re-lighted in photoshop at which point I wrapped it all up together to look "accurate" and then presented it to photographer at which point he was quite happy to see that this image can be used and we focus on colour grading and getting it to match to other series of images that we did of her.
